Great question! It makes no difference whether you stick with the same BRAND of oil or not. The QUALITY of the oil is the real issue. So while it seems like I favor your uncle's position, I myself use Mobil 1 synthetic oil in everything I own. The reason is simple. I happen to think it is the best, so I use it. I suspect your Dad may have felt the same way about Havoline and stayed with it for the same reason.
