The picture of it open (final drive removed) is the one I'll refer to.
The piece remaining with three bolts holding it to the tranny is the bearing cage. I holds the bearing on the inside, the seal taps into the outside of it, *inboard* of the brake drum. If the bearing is noisy, now's the time to replacee it. The cage may need some "walking" out -- it's a very straight, tight fit. If you do go that far, don't forget to keep track of the shims and put them back.
If only the seal is needed, it's a simple matter to destroy it as you pull it out and tap a new one in.
The others' advice about the condition of the shaft perhaps warranting the need for a Speedi-Sleeve in asddition to replacing the seal is worth heeding.
