Yes, I intend to attach rubber to the rings. The rings are 4.5 inches wide and 1/4 thick. They turned out 4.5 inches because that was the width of the scrap on the floor at the fabricator. I took the cleats down to my friends sheet metal fabricating business and told him to make me some rims to fit them. 1/4 inch was the thickest he could roll on the machine that makes this metal curve. He made two halves which I intend to fit snug, cut to length and weld together to make ring. The c clamps were to get it snug before cutting to length. I have not decided on how to attach the ring to the wheel yet...still thinking about that.
