If I'm reading this right it sounds like a timing problem. Sounds like you have it advanced jus a little to much and when its set that way when warm they are hard to turn over. Doing that was an old trick to get just a little more out of a V8 but the same problem is caused by doing that. You hit the starter and it will turn just a little slow way down then go on past TDC till it hit again and it slows again. Back you timing off just a tad and see if that helps
