Everyone is telling you to go, but remember the cost of the inputs can be 300-500 per acre. That is up to $75000 per year.
The cost of the equipment is actually less than that and resellable if you fail. I would rent the ground and help the farmer until you learn what you are doing. You could lose the ground off the cost of the inputs.
