post awhile back reminded me about some strange names and what different folks said in the early 60's
Here in Pa Bars were called "Beer gardens". Many times I hear the guys saying something like "gonna go see an Indian about a blanket" which meant they were gong to go relieve themselves of some of the beer they were drinking. Soda was called "Pop"
I spent 2 years in New Jersey and they wondered what part of the south I was from that was around New Brunswick-- Geographically directly West. I thought I was in Brooklyn for the accent. I remember they called their Beer gardens "Gin mills"
