Considering that we always have the augar folded when not in use, there is no reason it couldn't be on the other side. I am the wagon guy and rarely spill any. You need to run it enough so you don't need to look at the controls when you run them. The controls are grouped for your right hand so you can steer with your left. Have you ever ran a 1486 or whatever number older IH with levers all over the cab? That'll give you tennis elbow after a day if you need to run them all a bunch!
I have the first hyd. lever so when I pull it back it raises the grain gate and shuts off the flow when I push it ahead. The second lever folds the augar out when I move the lever ahead. This way if you have to shut the flow down in a hurry and bump the second lever ahead you don't open the augar while it is running.
Operating a cart well is a hard job to do right and get the load centered in the truck. I don't have a remote camera or directional spout to help either.....
