Corse ground black pepper will swell in the crack or whatever the leak is, and along with the water glass, form a pretty good dam. You definitely have to put it in with plain water, let the leak plug up while the machine is running, and then drain the water and put antifreeze in. Make damn sure you mix it up in a bucket before you pour it in!
