Have to agree with IH Hank on this one, a lightweight tall tractor like the wc with 2-3 times stock HP in an engine that will run above 5000 rpm could kill you. The only stock belt drive governor on a tractor that I know of is the 6 CYL Chrysler powered coop's, and they are a lowerlonger heavier tractor. The first tractor that I repowered with an automotive engine was a Moline GB diesel, a long heavy wheatland style tractor that I fitted with a GMC 305 V6. This was the only tractor where I had a governor failure. I was doing some cultivating and was at the end of a row,looking back at the cultivator as I lifted it.Well murphys law kicked in with a bang, a fan blade broke off and took the governor belt with it,had a wild ride for the few seconds it took me to shut the ignition off. On my later tractors which I still have(Oliver 1950T and 2150 with 454 Chev repower) I installed electronic rpm limiters(Mallory brand) which I set for a few hundred rpm above governor speed. they short out the ignition if the preset rpm is exceeded.You can get them at any speed shop. I have never had a governor failure on the Olivers, but after that ride on the GB it's good to know the governor has a backup system.Those 454's have a lot of power. If you put an automotive engine in your WC I sure would suggest installing the rpm limiter,for under a $100 it will save your engine and maybe your life if the governor quits. JH
