Hey guys, Have a 56' JD 420c I'm trying to clean up and get ready for expo this week. Problem is it wont charge. It use to about 2-3 years ago. It has done this once before, but I had cleaned the grooves in the armature out and it worked good for a while. Last year, I installed a new regulator thinking that was it, but didnt change anything.
Yesterday I took the generator comepletely apart, armature was put in the lathe, cleaned up with a stone. Brushs have good tension, cleaned up posts and springs.
Touching "A" terminal and ground gives me close to 7 volts on the generator.
I've printed off John T's troubleshooting list but wont be able to try anything until tommorow night. Any help is appreciated. -Mike
