For years Country Companies here in IL held meetings about farm saftey, I believe today Doug Summers still does them. They always told us as farmers to use the lane we were in and not to drive half on half off the road or to drive on the shoulder unless you are wider than the lane. Maybe that is the law, I dont know. If the piece of equipment I am driving is wider than one lane I will drive so I am using my lane but then the rest of the machine is on the shoulder. It doesnt impede oncoming traffic and with flasing lights, reflectors and smv's keeps everyone aware following. I try to be as courteous as possible but alot of drivers out there show no common sense about driving and the dangers of driving in farm country. Alot of people like living in rural america but they forget that farming takes place in rural america and these people that they are waving that one finger at are their neighbors and are engaged in the largest industry in america. bill
