I read several years ago that there are 213 brands of tires in the U.S. and less than a dozen manufacturers make them all.
BTW, you might try a few more Walmart stores. I had Sam's Club try to pull a switch on me once by claiming a particular tire had been discontinued.
One Sunday, I priced a set of tires at Sam's Club, then when I went back on Wednesday to buy them, I was told that tire had been discontinued and it's replacement just happened to be about $20 per tire more. The guy told me the tires I wanted had all been shipped back to the distributor, and made a big sales pitch for the higher priced ones. I argued. He finally said he'd go back to the warehouse and see if there were any that hadn't been shipped.
While he was doing that, I went back in the store and found 7 of the ones I wanted right on the tire rack in the store.
The moral of this is, if one Walmart tells you a particular tire has been discontinued, another Walmart may have a dozen in stock.
