This thread keeps getting axed because we are getting tired of this. Your posting the same thing every day. Find something different. If you ain't got a better idea than ethanol, don't criticize the ones that risk their necks on taking this chance. The first time in a decade there has been this much optiomism in ag, not to mention a chance to make a decent living, and everyone wants to shoot this down. Really now, what good is this doing? If you discover tommorrow the answer to our energy needs, by all means tell us. Don't tell us that because ethanol is being made, it is the scapegoat. The United States has had cheap food for so long it has become a given. Food has went up some, and precious little goes back to the farmer. Most is the middleman taking a bigger cut. Sams Club and Costcos are limiting people to 4 bags of rice. Big deal. A cup of rice will feed four with some left over. All this land is coming out of CRP. Might be some more land out there now, but realize now that all these subdivision have ate more land than ag has put back in production, and we still have the capacity to overproduce. And one more thing. It will readjust. There was only one good year to make money when corn went up. That was the year it shot up. Imputs have doubled to tripled. Diesels high, fertilizer is through the roof, and machinery costs more. What do you look at in these studies? Do you just see dollar signs. Nobody is willing to raise themselves up, everyone always drags dow the sucessful one, the one who tries to do better. Maybe ethanol is a cure, maybe it is a curse, and maybe it was taken out of proportion, but you have yourself in a pi$$ing match. IaGary has been a gentleman in his conduct on these threads, you ought to have the courtsey to respect him and respect his opinions.
