Truck: F350 Lariat 2001 SRW
Looking to install some radio equipment in the overhead between the overhead storage console (above the rear view mirror) and the dome light towards the center of the truck. What I'd like to do is to install a piece of nice wood either between these two items or underneath them. In other words is there a way to loosen the storage console and loosen the dome light and install the board underneath them and then re-secure the console and the dome light where the wood piece would also be secured? The only other option I thought of is to put sheet metal screws (for the equipment) directly into the overhead material and then into the roof sheet metal--but I don't know if the roof has a double layer of steel and if it does how short do the screws have to be? I need to mount a regular CB and also a VHF marine radio. Already have an inverter behind the shifter on the floor and a brake controller on the lower dash left of the steering wheel, so the overhead is the best location if I could get it to work. Thanks for any help or advice.
