Hal, people are to pickey about their horses. Until I sold all of mine last year they ate and done well on any kind of hay I gave them. Grass hay is as good as any for a horse. They don't have to have Alfalfa. I fed mine lots of fescue except for the bred mares. The ones I had would even eat molded rolled hay and never got sick I was feeding the 9 of them almost 3000 bales a year, because they were kept up most the time when the kids were riding a lot. They quit riding and helping with the feeding so I got rid of the things, and sale that 3000 bales now.
