The other problem with milking a Hereford is that their teats are so small. We had one that gave quite a lot of milk and seemed to enjoy being handled and being milked. But it took twice as long to milk her as it did our big Holsteins. I think we milked her 3 years and then just let her raise calves. Maybe it would work better with a milking machine, but we always hand milked.
