critter in the barn

was replacin hydraulic hoses on the back hoe in the barn today, seen a critter come running along the wall. thought it was a rat at first, then it came by again. about a foot long, slender body, about as round as a bratwurst, short tail, slightly bushy, white in color except has black around its eyes like a racoon, short legs, ran pretty quick. looked like a weasel but smaller and the wrong color. north central llinois. some kind of weasel or ferret?? never seen one like it before. any body know what it is???
