Hey Mike,

Boy, this hasn't been a good week for either one of us. Hate to hear about the "green" oil. I remember how deflated I felt when I removed the head from my 20 and found not just one crack, but EVERY web beteen the cylinders. I almost quit before I started. I had already resigned myself to the fact that I was gonna have to replace practically all of the front and buy new tires all around. When I saw the bad block, I dropped the whole project for about two weeks.

Keep us informed if you decide to try the sealer.
If you decide to find a replacement, let me know and I will keep an eye out for one.

Now for my bad news. I went to pick up the head I had left to have rebuilt. They guy says I have bad news for you - it has a bad crack in it. I could have dealt with that a little better if he had told me that right after he cleaned it, but he had told me then that it looked very good. I am somewhat suspicious that it got dropped because we went from supposedly having it ready in two or three days, to all of a sudden a delay of two weeks - then yesterday he drops the bad news. I haven't checked the crack out yet, so I won't make any final judgements until I get a close look as to where the crack is. Even then, it won't change anything. I wouldn't have pushed the issue if he had said he damaged it. He is young, basically honest, and trying to make it on his own. he has also been very reasonable in the past on the things he has worked on for me.

In the meantime, I will be looking around for another one. Let me know if you happen to hear of one in your area.

Note: I guess neither one of us need to worry about buying any lottery tickets this week. Our luck just isn't with us this week!

Larry

Today's Featured Article - New Life for an Old Allis - by Tyler Woods. My friend Jon, has an old '39 Allis Chalmers B. He thought it a marginal tractor that had long since served its time. She smoked terribly and never had much power but he couldn't afford another so he was limping along with what he had. Jon's Allis has a small front loader and though it doesn't carry much, it serves his needs. It was the hard starting and low power that made him think it was time to replace the old girl. Jon called me to help him discover why his tractor wouldn't start ... [Read Article]
