I've got the standard big yard light pole here on the farm, you know, a big wooden telephone pole with a light on the top. Its getting a bit rotten at the bottom, and some of the wiring needs to be redone, so I've been looking into getting a new pole. Someone mentioned that the utility company (Com Ed here in N. Illinois) will install and maintain one for you, and just put a small monthly charge on your bill. Does anyone know how this works? How muck a month is it? Do you pay the fee as long as you own the house? Will they take down the old pole? I know I should just call Com Ed, but I waited on hold for 20 minutes this morning before just giving up and leaving a message. I figured I'd get an answer quicker posting here.
