Depends a bit, from what I have been learning. What is the age of the steer, breed, grade of beef. This past fall I bought and resold a few prime angus steer, shy of finished to avoid paying for fat. I charged $1.68/lb hanging weight. I made money and all I did was pick and haul to the locker, sold to family and freinds, so I was not out to make a killing. Locally (central MN) I am seeing $1.55-$2.00/lb in the for sale ads. Most of these are CLAIMING Angus, but doing some drive by's I see that they are mixed crosses at most places, others were angus. Are you selling or buying? A few good gents on here always told me to charge 2X what I paid live weight. So maybe figure it out based on what current live weight prices are going for in your area. Hope this helps, if not take it with a grain of salt

Jon called me to help him discover why his tractor wouldn't start
