I have a Ford 3400 diesel that has a broken crank shaft. It seperated just in front of #1 rod journal. Short of taking the engine apart, is there some way to tell what the condition of the upper end of that engine is like ? I'm half tempted to drop a different crank in it and see if it would run. But I hate to spend the $ on a crank if the rest of it needs rebuilding. Any ideas? Thanks And Happy New Year to all the great folks on this board.
