I bought mine last year, that increase is horrible. In the past a person could save a decent chunk of change by doing it himself, now the dealer/OEM pricing is so bad that you have got to spend half your life calling salvage yards to make the repair costs remotely reasonable. I guess this is why I see so many older tractors held together with baling wire and chewing gum. The OEM's are expecting at least 20% return on assets and they don't give a damn who's hide is lost in the process. How many of us outside of a risky hedge fund, can come close to performing this 20% miracle? It just kills a lot of the satisfaction in restoring something when one realizes the amount spent.
