I don't know if you plan on driving your new truck until it is junk, but if you buy a stipped down basic truck with no A/C, no radio, manual windows/locks, and a manual transmission, you are going to have a truck with no resale value if you decide to sell, you could stick it on your lawn for sale and it would sit there forever before you found someone to take it off your hands when your talking that basic. The best deals are trucks that are on a dealers lot. Look for a basic trim package, and get one that has all the cheaper options, this way you will get yourself a much nicer truck and could sell it a whole lot easier. I would spend the extra money to atleast get a halfway decent sound package with a CD player, since I enjoy listening to the radio, and wished my truck had a cd player instead of the stupid cassette deck. All the saftey equipment comes standard as was mentioned in a post already, such as anti lock brakes, air bags, and power steering comes standard on all new trucks. If your going to be towing alot, I would suggest getting a motor with decent power, you said around a 350, but since chevy stopped putting the 5.7L 350 into pickups, you will have to settle for the new 300hp 6.0L that replaced it. If you are looking for the most gasser horsepower, Ford has it with their 362hp 6.8L V10 (yes Ford has got the Hemi beat). Good luck with your new truck purchase and look for a left over 2006 for a deal on it.
