I think there are a lot of us who much prefer dubwa to the alternative- but that doesn't mean we have to embrace him unconditionally, and never criticize. His main problem seems to me to be that he is a bit too much of a bulldog- you also need to know when to fold 'em. I don't think anyone realized how much of a quagmire this Iraq deal was going to be- we're dealing with religious zealots who don't really want a democracy- they just want a despot who is more benevolent to their faction than the other guys. Its been like that since biblical times over there, and most likely always will be. Time to simply walk away. As for Katrina and Rita, seems like we're going a little too far with the government largesse- its one thing to rebuild, quite another to rebuild in an area thats 15 feet below sea level and will likely suffer the same fate again in a few years. Especially in light of the fact that fully 40% of those folks have said they will never return. I think theres a lot of New Orleans folks who have had the same experience as a couple of families who came up here- motels comped them for a couple nites until other locals could take over the bill, jobs were offered, cars were donated, rent was subsidized for a couple of months until they could get on their feet, and the recipients, without really saying it, were thinking "I wish this would have happened 20 years ago".

Jon's Allis has a small front loader and though it doesn't carry much, it serves his needs. It was the hard starting and low power that made him think it was time to replace the old girl. Jon called me to help him discover why his tractor wouldn't start
