My brother has a f-250 4wd diesel with a little less than 100,000 miles on it. Last year, at the advice of my cousin who is a caterpillar heavy equip mechanic, bought one of those computer handsets you plug into the onboard computer. He reprogramed the onboard computer for more horsepower etc... He claims the mileage went from about 17 on the hwy to 24. I cannot attest to that, but I drove it a couple of times after and it definitely did have more horsepower. Before it seemed sort of sluggish and after he reprogramed it, it accelerated more like a gasoline eng. The only drawback from what my cousin told is that it can be a little harder on the clutch.
