Which brings up another curiousity of mine and that is the "Cultipactor" Allan mentioned. Here we go to all this trouble loosening the soil so that the roots can take off and the next thing we do is pack it down. But the rain does that for me; that's why I like to plow in the fall so the winter can pulverize the soil and in turn packs it somewhat. Then a little light tillage (cultivator) in the spring and in comes the drill. Mark
