I had an Oliver 1550, and wound up bending both rods- Oliver dealer said the stock ones were too small, and replacement was much huskier (I got to buy new tubes, too- even tho it was a design flaw, they weren't giving away the replacement parts). Didn't really damage anything else, but made for an interesting trip back to the barn. Meanwhile, wonder what happened to the rest of your rod? Maybe got cannabalized to repair another one? You run into some interesting stuff on these old girls. . .
