Allen, The day we closed on my farm, April 3 2001, I sat alone on the porch and watched the sun go down and listened to the frogs. I didn't know anybody around here. The people I bought from were not farming - only holding the property, hopeing to make a big buck. It was one of the biggest days of my life. It was scarry, exciting, lonley, happy and sad. I didn't realize a day could hold so many emotions (until we had our little girl 8 months ago). As we have been here four years now alot has changed. The farm is starting to come together, we may have our first harvest this fall. But the biggest thing is the exceptance from this community. It is ammasing how many people felt connected to this place. They are happy we have brought it back and made it a productive farm again. I get stories from oldtimers and teenagers telling me what they used to do on my place. In some way I feal I am farming as much for them as for me. I've also made some very good friends here. Without them I often wonder if I would have been able to get this far. The saddest part is that I'm just starting out my farm, and they are all retiring. Good luck with your endevers Allen. Keep posting updates, it is always interesting reading about your days. Grant
