Jason,

While all the anal advice is flowing, let me add mine; next time don't bother to open your mouth about anything. The facts are if a man lives in pig sty, he probably is a pig. carry your own gun and if he comes out with his, point yours back. If he tries to tell you he's worth 80 million and the tractor ain't for sale, tell him you didn't come to buy it, just to sit on it. If he runs you off, wait till you get on the road and flip him off. Anybody that acts like an a$$hole deserves to be saluted. Now if you were down here in Kentucky and pulled off the side the road to look over a tired old tractor sitting in a pasture, more than likely the farmer may look out and say, there's somebody down there crawlin on that old tractor again and then he'd go back to to doing whatever he was. If you then drove up in the barn lot and walked over and started a conversation he'd probably stop and shoot the bull with you and tell you that old tractor has been sittin' there for 15 years, was wore out when he pulled it out the way and it ain't worth a damn. But, he won't sell it because it was dad's or uncle Bill's OR, yeah, I'd sell it, sittin there in the way for years, what'll you give for it? Then he may ask who you are and if your so and so's boy and he knows your daddy from way back and so forth. just the difference in dealing with folks and animals.

I was thirteen, and Kathy (my oldest sister) was seven. At this age, I believed tractor farming was the only way, hot stuff -- and given a chance I probably would have used the tractor, Dad's first, a 1936 Model "A" John Deere, to go bring in the cows! And I think Dad was ready for some automation too. And so it was that we acquired a good, used J. I. Case, wire tie hay baler. In addition to a person to drive th ... [Read Article]
