Watched my dad one time - clubbed a "chuck out of a tree! Caught "em out of range of his hole, and he sought refuge on a lower limb of a tree. Dad walked up, swinging a short limb in his hand, pendulum style... "chuck was hypnotised by the swinging motion - all of a sudden the club made a complete loop over the top - caught "chuck right in the noggin! Another time we had one seek refuge in a 6" x30 foot aluminum irrigation pipe. Stuck one end in a tree and kept it angling upward at even steeper angles until we heard the screeching clawing sound as the "chuck slid out. When he hit bottom he met a club aside the head. Wood chucks are not good neighbors. We keep finding new ways to discourage then!
