I've recently bought a 460 utility. It has a 17 gpm gear pump which serves a valve bank beneath the steering column. the tractor had teh original steering system stripped when I purchased it so I have no reference for some parts. there is a small 1/2 inch or so line coming from the pump to the valve bank. I've been told that it might have served the steering system or is a sensor line for the gear pump but I'm not certain. the line goes to a small valve on the side of the gear pump. Which if either of these ideas is right? I've also been told that it is a closed center system, is this true? The hydraulics are quick but the loader won't lift heavy objects. On the valve bank there is a spring loaded section with a small screw which can be turned in or out, does this regulate pressure?

Jon called me to help him discover why his tractor wouldn't start
