The original generator on the B Allis was a "shunt" type which uses no external regulation. The device which you need is called a "cut out". These devices are sometimes mistaken for regulators but have only one coil inside and usually no more than three external wire connections. The cut out is actually a current operated set of spring loaded contacts. When charging, the current flows out of the generator through an electromagnet in the cut out till the magnetic force is strong enough to overcome a spring and attract the armature plate (one side of the contact point set) to close the contacts and make the connection to the battery wire. When not charging, the armature plate is pulled back to the open position by a spring which is tensioned just tight enough to overcome the magnetic attraction generated by the current flowing backward from the battery, through the coil, to the generator field coils. I phoned my local Allis dealer and the cut outs are available but they do not have one in stock. I almost "cut my teeth" on a B Allis and just had to respond when I came across your question! I will be glad to help more if this is not sufficient. Hope this helps, Ed
