I builtmy 40 x 64 in 92 and can offer only my opinions. First if its a wood pole barn you are better off to go with 8' increments on account of you have to put that pole in any ways. I was going to 40x60 and the guy at the lumbr yard pointed out that it was the same nunmber of pole with 64, just 4 more feet of shed, so I went to 64. I went 14' high instead of 12. At the time I couldn't afford 16' but now I wish I had found some money and went 16'. I have upstairs storeage but its alittle low. I buried 2 heavy threaded nut assemblies in the concrete in line with the door one in front one in back. to anchor and pull down. I used them once to straighten a frame on a car, it worked great. Now... if it was my dream? Heat in the floor, full six inch insulated walls, white metal inside, full second story parts storage, all roll up doors no sliders, painted or epoxy floors, leanto sides in each direction for storage, overhead beam and trolley.
