Ever see that movie that started the Waltons? Think was called Homecoming or Coming Home, or something like that. Well, that'll be me on Christmas Eve, even if it kills me to get home to Bristol, IN. from Joliet, IL. That's a trip that I make very week, and on a good day is two and a half hours one way, has taken me five. Just as was about to leave at about 5:30 this last Sunday, someone called and said "LaPorte's getting 20+ inches on the tollroad right now". I didn't want to hear that. Then the tollroad lady told me the same thing. I didn't want to hear that either, so jumped off at SouthBend, and headed down to Plymouth, and over on Rt30 towards Joliet. Still got nailed by lake effect snow well south of LaPorte, but made it into Joliet around 10:00. 4.5 hours is better than my record of 5 for a 2.5 hour drive. Now weather guy's saying another 8" for LaPorte area tomorrow, and more Thursday night. I don't care if I have to drive to Georgia to get to Indiana from Illinois, I'm not going to miss Christmas with my family. And for a guy whom rarely drinks, I'm gonna have a beer or few with my family on the snowy tractor, because I can and will - I can taste them now, and they taste great too!

And nice pictures of the Deere. I've got similar of mine covered with snow on Thanksgiving. If I knew how to post pictures, I would. Those Amish guys swear as of today are gonna start on the new barn next Monday, but have been hearing Monday, Monday, Monday for weeks and months now. They're good, they just don't set any speed records, them guys. Merry Christmas to you Old Fashioned, and to all.
