Huw: I have actually operated some of these Fordson major diesels. A lot of them came to Canada. They had a good reputation for being tough and reliable. They were however considered cumbersom and clumsy compared the North American row crops. Back when these were new the price was right for good old diesel pulling horse power. Most of the majors to come here were equiped much like our big standards, thus the reason for that clumsy reputation. Correct if I am wrong, but I believe those majors were also available in row crop configuration as well. Not narrow front, but high clearence front axles and 38" rear tires. Parctically none of those ever came here.
