Hi, I just recently purchased an 8N at an auction a couple of days ago and didn't realize until today that there is a grinding noise coming from [what seems like] the front of the transmission housing. It grinds consistently in and out of gear, but quits when the clutch is depressed. I ran a search in this forum and it sounds like this would be the input shaft bearing. I'm curious as to how expensive a repair like this would be, and if it would be fairly simple for me to fix myself. I don't have very much experience at all with tractor repair, but I love to disassemble and reassemble things, and I have a good deal of spare time on my hands as well as a shop to work on the tractor in. Thanks in adv. Tim
