Hi John, And don't forget code calls for the stack to be 2ft above anything 10ft horzontial away from the stack. This keeps the stack drawing as well as keeps back drafts out. Most people who cheat this part of the code will complain that the stove is smokey and is hard to light duing windy conditions. Depending on just how much the stack is short or near another roof slope will also cause the stack to cerosote the walls easy. Have you priced triple wall roof thimbles? Shocker No2 coming if you haven't. Good idea to read up on the fireplace code intall requirments as they keep your family safe. These would be in the NFPC (National Fire Protection Code) book. Your local fire dept. would have a copy. T_Bone
