Errin, email addresses are easily spoofed. If you've ever posted your email on a public forum (such as this one), somebody has it and is not only sending YOU spam, they're sending OTHER people spam using YOUR email address. The mail protocols used on the internet provide no authentication, which is one reason that spam is such a problem. If you set the display options on your email client to show "full headers", you will get enough information to trace the email back to its original source. Not that that will help you much, but at least you will see that it didn't originate with your PC, nor did it come from ebay. Note that the headers itself is probably obfuscated; you can find details on the web about how to decipher obfuscated mail headers. You can even trace its origin back to an ISP, where you can file a complaint. (Not that the ISP is likely to do anything, since they're probably on the other side of the world.) My recommendation is just ignore it. Junk like this is a fact of life on the internet today.

Jon called me to help him discover why his tractor wouldn't start
