I don't know for sure, other than they're trying to sell you the wrong fan! The tape measure don't lie! I'm looking in my ratty old original parts manual for Ford tractor. They show three possiblities for OEM fan for that model. Part number NCA-8600-A is a 3 blade fan for 600, 700, 800 and 900 series from '55 and up. Part number NCA-8600-B is a 6 blade fan for torrid zones, also for '55 and up. The third possibility is a 6 blade pusher fan, part number JE-8600-A for '57 and up. My 850 has a 4 blade fan. When I asked the folks on the Ford board about it I was told that the 3 blade fans were often replaced with aftermarket 4 blade fans because the original 3 blade fan would not fit with aftermarket replacement water pumps.
