Safe for the tractor as long as you have a pipe long enough. When you turn the tractor off the air must be heated by the pipe so that cold air does not get to the valves.Now for your hearing that is a differant story. It is best to have the pipe that loops under tractor and exits behind the operator. Even then there would be some hearing loss. Take it from someone that hears crickets 24-7 it is not worth it.
