The human in freefall will hit the deck at about 160mph. Not really important, still usually dead. Terminal velocity is simply a case of drag versus weight - when both are equal, acceleration falls to zero. Parachutists know they should only hit the ground at a few mph - just enough to break a few bones if not landing right! Some aero-foil shaped bombs (called 'Tallboys' maybe?) were designed to fall to faster than the speed of sound (c. 700mph)even as far back as WW2, so they penetrated to foundation level, or below, before destroying the structures by shock wave of underground explosion. Apparently didn't need a direct hit (which was a bit more difficult in those days). Regards, RAB
