Good news! After checking everything multiple times, we decided to pull the AC behind the truck a ways instead of hand cranking. My dad, who's 82, drove the truck while my son and I sat on the tractor seat. First we had to shift her into third by removing the shifter and pounding the gears with a hammer. She fired up rather easily, considering. Once she's warm she hand cranks. I guess the rest is small stuff. But I'll take your advice and get the manuals. My car knowledge doesn't equate one-for-one. So far this project is the most fun we've had for 300 bucks in a long time. The whole family is involved.
