Could this have been a truck or trailer to load cotton modules (picked, then packed units of cotton) from the fields going to the gin? I think such truck beds tilted then crept under the cotton module, then pulled it on the truck bed. It's been several years since we moved from Tidewater Virginia where I saw them when cotton came back--never got to see one in operation!
