Checking hyd oil on Oliver 1950

I got a Oliver 1950 with 4 wheel drive and the detroit diesel from a friend of mine to try out and I need to know how to check the hyd oil and the oil for the rear end and transmission. Is the power steering oil the same as the hyd oil? It acts like the power steering needs some oil. Were these good tractors? Thanks
