Depends upon where you are at. Carring rates are mesured in AUM (Animal Units Months) or how may animals you can graze per acre per month. An animal for this purpose is one cow/calf, or one horse, or five sheep. Here in this part of Wyoming its 30 acres per animal unit. You need to check with you county extionson agent to determine your carring rate. Some places (where they have water I've heard its one acre. Must be nice. Oh by the way, that hay table of one ton per animal per winter don't hold water, figure it out, you need to feed 2.5 lbs per hundred weight. That's twenty five lbs per 1000 lb. animal, that's eighty days of feed per ton per animal. Every location is differant.
