a 48 cub had a magneto, so the coil on yours has been added, probably because the mag was bad. I can't say for sure not seeing yours, but the switch only function in running was to ground out the coil to cut engine off. I would think you would need an extra switch, with a wire from starter to one side of switch, other side to + side of coil, - side of coil to post on side of mag, should run that way, LOL Nat
