Piston rings, pistons, connecting rods, and crankshafts are all almost identical to their century old counterparts. And that includes the new and improved gap-less piston rings (Gill had them at least as far back as 1921, as did Bird and a host of others). The basic spark plug hasn't changed. Nor has the leaf spring or the coil spring. The basic 1147 light bulb is ancient. As are the lead acid batteries, wires, v belt pulleys, bearings and a host of other components.
