Well, According to Nebraska test 1005, @ 64.62hp, it returned 11.16 hphr/gal, or about 5.79 gal/hr. Other tractorts this size and fuel were: JD 3020 @ 64.74 pto hp, 10.79 hphr/gal Case 870 @ 63.04 pto hp, 11.86 hphr/gal IH f656 @ 63.85 pto hp, 12.26 hphr/gal Ford 5000 @ 63.73 pto hp, 11.75 hphr/gal The AC 180 fuel consumption would be about average. My hp figures are for hp @ std (540) pto rpm, NOT max pto rpm. Some tractors for example will make more hp @ 2500, but their rated pto speed is @ 2200 with a lower hp rating. The Diesel tractors were much better: AC 180 15.53 hphr/gal CS 870 15.67 hphr/gal FD 5000 16.41 hphr/gal JD 3020 14.76 hphr/gal IH f656 14.38 hphr/gal The above diesel tractors burn about 3.7-4.3 gal/hr.

An improperly torqued capscrew on an engine head or a shear bolt that is too hard on the driving shaft of a bushog can create havoc and make an expensive and uncalled for repair. Let’s examine the purpose and design of these fasteners in order to ensure their proper use. Fasteners are probably one of the aspects of mechanics that is given the least amount of thought.
