Is there really any difference between using farmland to produce ethanol and using farmland to produce and solar electricity?
In the US over 5 billion bushels of corn annually goes into making ethanol. At a generous average of 200 bushels per acre that is over 25 million acres of prime farmland being wasted to make ethanol because US farmers can not stop overproducing corn. In comparison, a few thousand acres set aside for solar power seems like a drop in the ocean.
