Neighbor has a John Deere 9400 combine with the 6 cylinder 359 cid engine for sale. Later models had a slightly larger engine. Over the years I have heard of problems with this engine centered around the harmonic balancer or possibly all of the pulleys running off of the front of the engine. Can someone with experience tell me what the problems are with this engine? Do these engine problems plague most of the 9400 combines eventually? This combine has nearly 6000 engine hours on it and he can't seem to find a buyer. It has been listed on the internet with nearly 250 looks. It even sat at the local John Deere store on consignment through two harvest seasons before he finally brought it home. If the harmonic balancer goes bad how much does it cost to get it running again? Does it ever require a crankshaft or just the balancer/pulleys? Thanks.
